Team CryTek’s graphically gorgeous, resource intensive CryENGINE 2 seems to be slowly making its way to consoles.
For those that don’t know, CryENGINE is the monster which powers the incredible Crisis, currently only available on PC. The engine plays beautifully on high-end gaming PC but what will it equate to on a console which can only give half of what crysis demands.
During a interview over at IGN, Harald Seeley (engine business manager for Crytek) says "we definitely tailor the engine specifically to each platform" and also interestingly adds "there is no doubt that porting our engine to the PlayStation 3 is the more challenging of our two".
Either way, judging by the console demo video (above), it could be one hell of a hit on the consoles.
